Current Projects
Here is a list of theatrical projects that I am currently developing. Feel free to read show descriptions, listen to demos, and read scripts/lyrics.
Stupid Little Bugs
Book and lyrics by Keiko Green
Music and lyrics by Toby Singer
In the cutthroat world of high school theatre, Annie has spent years “paying her dues” and it’s finally time to make her way into the spotlight. But when a 23-year-old sub takes over the Drama department, all rules and traditions fly out the window. In this loose, darkly comedic adaptation of the Ant and Grasshopper fable, Stupid Little Bugs explores the dangerous consequences of the live to work mentality and how society fails young women.
Development History: Developed with the support of the Seattle Rep, Playwrights Realm, and the Lanford Wilson New Play Festival. Most recently a Zoom reading in July 2023.
2023 Demos
The Match
Book, music, and lyrics by Toby Singer
Rudolf Kastner sips espresso in a Tel Aviv cafe trying to distract himself from being accused of collaborating with the Nazis during World War II. But when a mysterious young woman shows up, on a mission that only she knows, Rudolf is forced to brutally engage with the impossible decisions of his past. In this work of historical fiction, The Match tells the story of Jewish poet Hannah Senesh and Rudolf Kastner, and how their lives intersected in the pursuit of justice.
Development History: Several readings and concert presentations, including in 2023 at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in NYC, a 2020 workshop at ART-NY, and several informal workthroughs in Brooklyn and Austin from 2019 to 2023.
2021 Demos
Rapture
Music and lyrics by Toby Singer
Book by Stoph Scheer
A group of friends gather in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains for a campfire singalong to ritualize a momentous night as all of the world’s richest people board a spaceship to fly away from a dying Earth, for good. But when an unexpected guest crashes the party, the truth about the group, why they’re here, and our collective future, comes tumbling out. Rapture is a group-sung theatrical ritual for the end of the world.
Development History: Conceived during the pandemic and being currently drafted with Stoph, Rapture will be workshopped in Austin, TX in November 2023.
2022 Demos
Comedy of Wizards
Book and lyrics by Stoph Scheer
Music and lyrics by Toby Singer
The great wizard Antipholus of Syracuse and his loyal servant Dave find themselves in enemy territory, as Antipholus searches for his long-lost twin. But wizardly hilarity ensues when wizard is mistaken for wizard (obviously, wizards all look alike) as the very fabric of the universe is put to the test. In this New Orleans-y musical adaptation of the Comedy of Errors, Comedy of Wizards reminds you to not question the way of wizards.
Development History: Commissioned in 2020 by Muhlenberg College for production in Summer 2020 (cancelled). Since then, a couple of informal readings over the course of the pandemic.

South By South Death
Book, music, and lyrics by Jared Saltiel and Toby Singer
When her jaded journalist friends head south to cover the 2016 Didgeridoo Arts Festival, Sarah reluctantly tags along to see her ex-boyfriend perform. But when a psycho in a Miley Cyrus mask starts killing off her squad and posting murder selfies, Sarah must brave the festival hordes (and an impending hurricane) to unmask the so-called Selfie Killer. By turns campy slasher-comedy, meticulous murder mystery, and vicious pop-culture satire, South by South Death is an epic rock musical about (millennial) angst, envy, and ambition.
Development History: A series of readings and presentations between 2015 and 2019, including a public workshop at National Sawdust in Brooklyn in 2016. Currently being developed into a screenplay.
2018 Industry Read Cuts
